"Simplicity is bliss"
If you've worked with other Linux installs, this will have
a familiar feel, though with less fluff to deal with, it just
works. Outof the box it is just the ticket for a text-based
network server.
"It's the best!!!!"
Well, lucky me, this is the first linux distro I tried and
it is a big success for me. I managed to get it working relatively
fast and I am very satisfied with it. It is small, but you
can add whatever you wish later. The latest version,2.5, is
the best!

"Way to go Vector linux!!"
If you tend to run out of patient while installing linux,
then by all means try Vector linux... It took me less than
10 mins to get everything runnig. Don't underestimate this
little distro.. Vector linux took less than 30 seconds to
boot on my system.. other distros like mandrake, takes a hell
of a time, loading all those fansy graphics, and logos..!
There are so many good things about Vector linux that will
take a day write them down. Even better, you don't need to
have a cdr to install Vector linux..!!! :)
"what can i say"
i have spent time with this os and the maker and i would have
to say that the os is nice and easy to use... but there are
things that can be done to make it easier for the win user
to change over like a few change in commands... like dir and
help files... but the os is clean and easy to use you just
have to WANT linux as you have to work with this os to get
it working Just the way you want... c++ compiler works fine
X11 could use an easier setup (i couldnt get it working right
so i had to use the text config) but i would take this over
red hate or any other os for that matter including Micro$hit...
Thumbs Up Matt Thomas
"Newbies having problems-try this Distro"
I wrestled with Slackware for 2 months. It's a much more thorough
version, but the installation of Vector includes SaX, which
made it unnecessary to tweak video settings, etc. later. Vector
is also extremely light, and is great for getting around and
learning Linux. I plan to install it on my laptop because
of its "legacy" hardware status. PPP runs great
and is easy to set up. If you are already using Linux, be
aware that the Editor choices are slim, and the docs that
you learn to depend on in Slackware and other large distros
are mostly absent. The only thing I had to configure after
the install was LILO so that it booted up in 800x600 mode.
Includes easy boot menu. The only downfall of the install
for Newbies is that you need to know your drive designations
(/dev/hdb is cdrom drive) in order to make the install. If
you're struggling with Linux and haven't tried this distribution,
download the 140mb ISO and burn it. It installs in like 10
minutes, and achieving some success in making Linux run on
your system may give you the gumption to stick with it.
"My pc FLIES running this OS"
I'm very impressed with this small Linux distro. Compiled
for a pentium, the latest versions of all libraries, uptodate
kernel. It really makes my old pc fly, a certain unnamed OS
on my main computer (which is twice as fast as the machine
Vector Linux is on) actually runs SLOWER then this :) Haven't
had any crashes or lockups of any kind yet. A satisfied user
of this product.
"The best"
This is the 4th linux distro I tried and it is the best. I
tried Redhat(5.0 to 7.1), Mandrake(8.0), Slackware(long time
ago). VectorLinux is small and flexible, instead of install
all kinds of useless software package, I can install whatever
I need easily.
.
"My Favorite Distro"
This is by far the best of all distros, and I've tried them
all. Programs included are the best of the best, and kde was
easy to add to the 2 window managers preinstalled. Running
on a laptop is a snap.
"My first version of Linux..."
Well, I decided one day to have Linux and Windows on my computer,
I downloaded this with my 56K modem, it installed easy and
quick, it runs great with my laptop, this was perfect for
what I wanted.
"Works Great!!!"
I have installed it on a 486 laptop and it works perfectly!!!
